Strength for runners. The two sessions you keep skipping.
Runners get hurt from weakness, not mileage: weak hips, glutes and trunk that give out at mile eight. Every training plan says do two strength sessions a week; almost nobody does, because it means programming it yourself in a gym. F45 Training Cooper City does it for you: coached strength and hybrid days with sleds, lunges, carries and single-leg work, Run Club every other Sunday, and HYROX Saturdays for the engine. First class free.

Why runners break, and what fixes it
Shin splints, runner’s knee, IT band, plantar fasciitis: most of them trace back to hips and glutes that can’t control the leg under fatigue, and a trunk that folds. Mileage exposes the weakness; it doesn’t cause it. The fix is loaded single-leg work, hip hinges, carries and sled pushes, done progressively, twice a week. That is what an F45 strength day is.
It also makes you faster without a single extra mile. A stronger hip and trunk means less energy leaking out of each stride, which shows up as a lower heart rate at the same pace.
A runner's week at the studio
- Two strength or hybrid days, on the days after your long run and your key workout, not before.
- One cardio day if you want a hard interval session off the pavement: rowers, bikes, ski ergs.
- Run Club every other Sunday, 6:15 AM, before the 7:00 class. All paces.
- HYROX Saturday every other week at 7:00 AM: run-station-run conditioning, coach-set loads.
Tell the coach your race date and distance. Loads come down in the last two weeks before a race and go up in the base phase; they’ll manage it inside the class.
Getting started
Take a free class on a strength or hybrid day and tell the coach you run. The demo screen at each station shows the move, and two coaches on the floor set your weights and correct form, so you don’t need to know a program. Memberships are month to month, and the plans range from a few classes a week up to unlimited, so two sessions a week is a real option.

Runners' questions
Is F45 good for runners?
Yes, as the strength and conditioning half of a running program. Most running injuries come from weak hips, glutes and trunk, not from mileage. F45 strength and hybrid days load exactly those with sleds, lunges, carries and single-leg work, coached, twice a week, without you programming anything.
Won't lifting make me slower or heavier?
No. Two coached strength sessions a week make runners more durable and more economical; you use less energy per stride when your hips and trunk are strong. Coached loads at F45 are moderate and progressive, not bodybuilding.
Is there a running group?
Yes. Run Club meets every other Sunday at 6:15 AM before the first class. All paces welcome; it's a group run, not a race.
How should a runner use the schedule?
Two strength or hybrid days a week on your non-key running days, a cardio day if you want a hard interval session that isn't on pavement, Run Club every other Sunday, and HYROX Saturdays if you want run-and-station conditioning. Tell the coach your race calendar and they'll steer your loads inside the class.
I'm training for a half or a marathon. Will F45 fit?
Yes. Keep your long run and your key workout; use F45 for the two strength sessions most plans tell you to do and most runners skip. Tell the coach your race date; in the last two weeks they'll keep your legs fresh.
What about HYROX?
F45 is an official HYROX training partner, and every other Saturday the 7:00 AM class is a HYROX-style session: runs between stations, sleds, wall balls, carries. For a runner it's the fastest way to learn the run-station-run transitions. See the HYROX page.
