Your 40s.The decade to start lifting.
Muscle, bone and metabolism start slipping in your 40s unless you load them, and the slide is quiet until it isn't. F45 Training Cooper City is a coached 45-minute class scaled to you: strength days that build the muscle that matters, cardio days with bike and rower options for knees that have opinions, and two coaches setting your weights. No age cut-off, no separate class. Your first one is free.

What changes in your 40s, and what to do about it
Three things drift at once: you lose a little muscle every year you don’t train, bone density follows it, and because muscle is what burns calories at rest, your metabolism slows and weight gets easier to gain and harder to lose. None of it is dramatic in any single year, which is why people notice it all at once at 45.
Resistance training is the thing that reverses all three, and it doesn’t take a barbell. F45 strength days load you with dumbbells, kettlebells, sleds and functional racks, at weights a coach picks and raises over time. Two or three of those a week, plus a cardio or hybrid day, is a complete program without you designing anything.
How the class is scaled to a 40-year-old body
- Every jump has a step version. Box jumps become step-ups; burpees lose the jump.
- Every run has a bike or rower option. Cardio days don’t require pounding.
- The coach sets your weights, and tells you when to go up. You never guess.
- Stations are timed, not counted. Nobody finishes first or last; you work at your pace for the interval.
Tell the coach what you’re working around before class. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor first; then the coach plans around it.
Starting, and sticking
Take a free class and go easier than you think you should. Then book three classes before you take the first one, at times you’ll actually make: the 5:15 and 6:15 AM weekday classes and the weekend mornings are popular with members in this decade. Memberships are month to month with no contract and no sign-up fee.
Coming back after a long break? Getting back into the gym. Over 50? Fitness classes for over 50. Want the strength science in plain words? F45 for building muscle.
Over-40 questions
Is F45 good for someone in their 40s?
Yes, and it's arguably the decade it matters most. Muscle and bone density start declining in your 30s and 40s unless you load them, and metabolism follows muscle. F45 strength days are coached resistance training with weights a coach sets for you; cardio days are scaled with bike and rower options for anyone who'd rather not run. Every station fits the person doing it.
I'm 45 and haven't trained in fifteen years. Is it too intense?
Not the way you'll be coached. Tell the coach it's your first class in years; they'll set you lighter than you'd set yourself, every move has an easier version, and stations are timed rather than counted so you're never holding up the room. The first two weeks are about showing up, not proving anything.
What about my knees / back / shoulder?
Tell the coach before class what you're working around and they'll swap what loads it: a bike for a run, a step for a jump, a different press for a cranky shoulder. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor first.
Will I be the oldest person in the room?
Very unlikely. Members in their 40s, 50s and 60s train alongside members in their 20s, doing their own version of the same workout. Nobody is watching you; everyone is on their own station and their own timer.
How many days a week at 40+?
Three to start, four once it's a habit, with at least two of them strength or hybrid days. Recovery matters more than it did at 25, which is another reason the fixed 45-minute length works: it's hard to overdo.
What results should I expect?
In the first two months most people notice strength, energy and sleep before they notice the mirror. The studio's InBody scanner reads muscle and body fat separately, so you can see muscle go up and fat come down even when the scale is slow. Members get two free scans a year.
